The Mourner's Almanac: A Poetry Collection

No one teaches you how to grieve a living thing. The Mourner's Almanac is my attempt to make sense of the losses I have walked through, grappling with intangible deaths and the absences they leave behind. Through these poems, I explore mentors leaving, families breaking, friendships decaying, and the weight of mental illness. But no matter how many graves I dig, I keep finding flowers breaking through the earth. For every lament I sing, there is also the echo of birdsong. So while this collection is an elegy of sorts, it is also just as full of the beautiful things that persist despite life's losses: community, healing, creation, hope. May this collection be a quiet companion through grief and a gentle reminder of the life that still grows beneath the soil. I am no expert of mourning, but I know this much: spring is on its way.
